Man responsible for sharing Maryam Nawaz’s videos arrested

LAHORE: The accused who shared immoral videos related to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has been arrested from Khokhar Town in Lahore.

A case has been registered against accused Bilal under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PICA Act). A special team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has identified 154 accounts spreading immoral pictures of Maryam Nawaz and the Emirati president.

The Facebook account and mobile phone used by the accused Bilal Hussain son of Muhammad Hanif have been seized, sources said. The said videos were shared through this mobile.

Accused Bilal Hussain shared the indecent AI-generated video from his Facebook account. Investigations are underway to identify other accounts involved in this illegal practice on social media and legal action will be taken.

The FIA team has also requested help from other agencies in identifying the accused who are sitting outside the country.

Inquiry No. 50/2025 has been filed in FIA Lahore against sharing of unethical AI-generated videos on social media. A case has been registered under Sections 20, 21 and 24 of the PICA Act.

These videos are said to be aimed at damaging diplomatic relations with Pakistan’s friendly countries, FIA officials said.

Over 200,000 posts were posted and shared from 1,134 accounts in the campaign against the president of friendly countries, the investigation so far has revealed.
