Babar Azam sets sights on T20 World Cup with focus on performance, team unity

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has stressed the importance of performance ahead of the T20 World Cup. During a press conference, he highlighted the team’s focus on securing victories in the tournament.
Babar said that the team is dedicated to delivering their best performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup, following rigorous training over the past three days.

He reiterated Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman’s statement on achieving a 100 per cent performance, underscoring cricket’s ability to unite the nation.
Addressing queries about the exclusion of national cricketer Mohammad Haris from the team, Babar Azam explained that Haris had failed to deliver during the Pakistan Super League (PSL), leading to the selection of players deemed more suitable for the team’s objectives. He clarified that every player is valued and integral to the team’s plans, with decisions made in the best interest of the team’s success.
Regarding the selection of fast bowler Amir Jamal, Babar Azam expressed confidence in his abilities, noting the importance of allowing him time to adapt to the T20 format as an all-rounder.
Responding to questions about the not using leading wicket-taker Muhammad Ali in favour of Haris Rauf, Babar Azam praised Rauf’s swift recovery and positive attitude, adding that Haris’s best performance has always been in T20 cricket.

Looking ahead to strategic planning against opposing teams, Babar Azam acknowledged the significance of preparations against key players like Virat Kohli. He indicated that plans for the upcoming matches, including the highly anticipated clash against India, will be formulated closer to the time, ensuring the selection of the most effective combination on match day.
