KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, scheduled to be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi from August 30 to September 3, will proceed without spectators in attendance.

The decision to suspend the sale of tickets and disallow spectators from the stadium was made by the PCB due to ongoing construction work at the venue in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy. The announcement highlighted the importance of the fans’ health and safety, stating, “We value our valued fans, but their health and safety is important to us.”

The PCB emphasised that the construction work is aimed at upgrading the stadium’s facilities to meet the highest standards for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for next year. “This construction work is to bring the stadium to the best facilities for the ICC Champions Trophy,” the PCB said in a statement.

In light of the decision, the PCB has suspended the sale of tickets for the Karachi Test and has assured fans who have already purchased tickets that they will be refunded.

The Pakistan vs. Bangladesh Test series forms part of the teams’ preparation for the ICC World Test Championship and the forthcoming international fixtures.
