Stephen Curry shines as Celtics’ crowd boos Kerr

Curry

BOSTON: A Boston Celtics crowd seemed to be in a bad mood even before they lost to the Stephen Curry led Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, as they booed Warriors coach Steve Kerr during the pre-game introductions.

BOOS

“I don’t think anybody actually cared about me to boo me,” said Kerr, who coached the USA Olympic team earlier in the year. The crowd were likely upset due to the fact that Celtic’s star Jason Tatum, who had just won a championship with the team months prior, didn’t get much playing time in the Olympics.

Tatum struggled from three throughout the Olympics, averaging only 5.3 points in the 17.7 minutes he played per game. He played only 11 minutes in the electric gold medal match between USA and France, much to the dismay of Celtic’s fans.

However, Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield didn’t care about their woes, as they continued to be a winning combo, leading the Warriors to their seventh win of the season, as they maintained a perfect record on the road.

THE GAME

After talking an early 11-point lead in the first, the Celtics began to struggle in the second. The Warriors took the lead on a three from Kyle Anderson. Golden State would continue building their lead throughout the second, peaking at 14 points in the third.

Boston would fight back, continuing to lower the lead with a flurry of threes from Jason Tatum, Sam Hauser, and Payton Pritchard, until they were within one of the Warriors. The Celtics would retake the lead off a three from Derrick White early in the quarter.

Golden State wouldn’t let the Celtics pull too far ahead, going on a 11-2 run in the last few minutes of the match to once again take the lead.

The Warriors remained perfect on the road behind a 27-point contribution from Curry. The 4-time NBA Champion went 8 for 17 from the field, and 4 for nine from deep. It was Curry’s second game back form an ankle injury that side-lined him at the beginning of the season. After the 36-year old superstar scored 24 on Monday against the Wizards, another great performance against the Celtics kept Warrior fans looking forward to an impressive season.

Buddy Hield continued to fill Klay Thompson’s shoes well, scoring 16 points as he went 4 for seven from three. Hield has been pivotal in continuing the Warriors winning ways throughout Curry’s absence and has proved to be deadly from three.

Andrew Wiggins was the last piece of Wednesday night’s puzzle, scoring 16 points to help the Warriors get over the Celtics.

Golden State outdid Boston from three, in the paint, and on the fast-break, to remain perfect on the road by beating the Celtics 118-112.
