US: Ongoing efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza continues

WASHINGTON: With the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza where Israel brutality has killed more than 42,000 Palestinians in less than a year, the United States State Department stated that it was committed to facilitating a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
In a press birdieing on Monday in Washington, the US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that any ceasefire would be contingent on the release of hostages held by Hamas.

Israeli brutality in the Gaza Strip forced the international community to call for immediate action to address the plight of Palestinians suffering from the constant occupying bombardment.
Miller declared that “Hamas must release [the] prisoners immediately”, reiterating the United States’ support for its longtime ally.
The US has long reiterated that the return of hostages was a critical competent of any truce agreement.
The State Department spokesperson noted that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza could not be archived without the explicit approval of Hamas.
“Both sides must agree on a Gaza ceasefire deal”, Miller declared.
Miller has previously accused Hamas of not coming to the negotiating table.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson also acknowledged the Israeli bombardment in Lebanon, being dubbed “limited operations”.

The US has claimed it is “closely monitoring” the situation in the Middle East and was ‘committed’ to ‘supporting’ efforts to promote stability and peace in the region.
