NADRA urges citizens to act before June 30, warns of fee hike

Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has advised citizens to complete key identity-related updates before June 30, 2026, warning that fees and penalties may be revised following the upcoming budget.

The authority has instructed people to renew expired Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and ensure registration of children’s “B forms” within the deadline to avoid possible additional charges in the new financial year.

Officials said parents should immediately register children who do not yet have a B form, while those who have reached the eligible age for a Smart ID card should also complete the transition without delay.

NADRA has indicated that the fee structure for identity services may change after the 2026–27 budget, potentially increasing the cost of services such as CNIC renewal, issuance of duplicate cards, and registration of child documentation.

At the same time, the authority highlighted ongoing efforts to improve public access to services through expanded facilitation points. In Lahore, 173 e-Sahulat franchises have been upgraded with additional services, allowing citizens to apply for B forms for children under ten, renew identity cards, obtain duplicates for lost cards, and even process cancellation of identity documents for deceased individuals.

Officials say these steps are aimed at improving convenience, but stress that citizens should act early to avoid any future financial burden.
