Peshawar: Two people injured in a shootout targeted at independent candidate

PESHAWAR: At least two people were injured in Peshawar on Saturday in a shootout targeted at an independent candidate in PK-82 constituency of Peshawar
Unknown assailants opened fire in an election rally of the local IN independent candidate Tariq Malik.

The local police confirmed that two people were injured during the shootout, who were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
Talking to the media, Malik Tariq declared the attack as an attempt on his life.
Earlier in the month, at least three people were killed when an independent candidate was targeted in North Waziristan.

Similarly, the Awami National Party (ANP) local leader Sher Wali Baghi was gunned down by armed assailants in Dera Ismail Khan in September 2023.
