Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned missile and drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, expressing solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people.
In a statement posted on X, the premier denounced the strikes carried out overnight, calling them unacceptable and reiterating Pakistan’s support for the Gulf state. He conveyed full solidarity with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, affirming that Pakistan stands firmly with the Emirati government and its citizens during this difficult time.
Sharif said Pakistan’s support for the UAE remains unwavering, particularly in moments of crisis, and stressed the importance of regional stability. He stressed adherence to a ceasefire and its full implementation were essential to maintaining peace in the region.
The prime minister also highlighted the need to create a conducive environment for dialogue, urging all parties to prioritise negotiations and diplomatic engagement as the path towards lasting peace.
Tehran alleges Emirati role in strikes, warns of escalation
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a strong warning to the United Arab Emirates amid escalating tensions, accusing the Gulf state of involvement in recent attacks on Iranian territory.
In a statement carried by state-linked media, the IRGC claimed that Tehran’s retaliatory actions against Emirati-linked interests were “proportionate” and carried out in response to threats to its national security. Iranian officials allege they possess evidence suggesting the UAE provided logistical or intelligence support for strikes targeting Iran, a claim Abu Dhabi has not accepted and has consistently countered with calls for de-escalation.
The warning signals a sharp deterioration in relations between the two countries, which had recently seen cautious diplomatic and economic engagement. The IRGC said any infrastructure used to facilitate attacks against Iran would be considered a legitimate target, raising concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict.
In its strongest language yet, the force cautioned that any further hostilities could trigger a more intense phase of confrontation. Analysts say references to “critical assets” point to the UAE’s energy facilities, desalination systems and major transport hubs.
