The Punjab government has announced early disbursement of salaries and pensions ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, offering relief to government employees and retirees.
According to an official notification issued by the Punjab Finance Department, salaries and pensions for the month of May will be released on May 21. Authorities say the move has been approved to help citizens manage expenses during the upcoming Eid festivities.
All relevant departments have been directed to ensure immediate processing of payments, while instructions have also been issued to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and commercial banks to facilitate timely transfers so that funds reach beneficiaries without delay.
Officials say the early release aims to provide financial ease to employees and pensioners, enabling them to prepare for Eid without last-minute difficulties.
EID-UL-ADHA DATES AND EXPECTED HOLIDAYS
The exact dates for Eid al-Adha in Pakistan will depend on the sighting of the moon marking the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah.
Initial projections suggest that if the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid is likely to fall between May 27 and 29. However, if the moon is not visible and the lunar month completes 30 days, Eid could shift to between May 28 and 30.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is expected to meet around May 17 to confirm the official start of the new month.
Based on these estimates, public holidays are likely to span May 27 to 29, with the possibility of extended breaks depending on how the dates align with the weekend.
