Ashura being observed today across Pakistan with devotion

ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth day of Muharram, is beign observed across Pakistan today, characterised by profound religious devotion and solemnity. The day commemorates the martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and his companions at the Battle of Karbala.

Muharram 9 processions culminate amidst tight security

Large processions and mourning ceremonies are being held across major cities across Pakistan, including Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, and Islamabad. Thousands of mourners are participating in these events, paying homage to the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his followers.

To ensure the safety of participants, stringent security measures have been implemented. In sensitive areas of Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and other cities, mobile phone services have been temporarily suspended.

Restrictions have also been placed on pillion riding on motorcycles, weapon displays, and the use of drones and helicopters.

Yesterday, on Muharram 9, processions and mourning gatherings were held nationwide. Security was heightened, and mobile phone services were suspended along the procession routes. Prominent religious scholars addressed these gathering, emphasising the sacrifices and teachings of the martyrs of Karbala.
