Funeral prayer held for Naib Subedar martyred in Chilas landslide

GILGIT: A military funeral procession was held in Gilgit today to mourn the loss of Naib Subedar Khalid Naseer, who tragically perished in the Chilas landslide, a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

Pakistan Army officers and soldiers gathered to bid farewell and pay homage to their comrade-in-arms Naib Subedar Khalid Naseer, recognising his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Following the funeral prayers, the body of the martyred Naib Subedar was sent to his native village for burial, ISPR said, adding that he will be laid to rest with the military honours.

The landslide occurred on Thursday and had blocked entire Karakoram Highway for any kind of traffic. The Pakistan army dispatched a Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) unit to help the stranded commuters. The unit was led by Naib Subedar Khalid and while helping to clear the landslide, a second landslide critically injured the entire unit.
