ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday extended the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar’s to July 13.

Qureshi’s bail application was heard by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, and Umar’s plea was heard by Justice Tariq Mahmood.

At the prosecutor’s behest, both cases will be consolidated and presented before the Chief Justice for adjudication as both defendants are implicated in the same legal matter.

Previously, the PTI leaders were granted interim bail by the IHC until July 10 against a surety bond of Rs100,000.

Qureshi and Umar are accused of inciting violence in relation to the May 9 riots, during which PTI leaders and workers attacked and desecrated army property. Their case was originally filed in Tarnol police station.
