PM Shehbaz leaves for Saudi Arabia to attend Arab-Islamic Summit

After the summit, the PM will leave for Baku to attend COP29
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has left for Saudi Arabia, to attend the the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh scheduled to be held on Monday.
The agenda of the summit includes reviewing the situation arising from the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.
The prime minister will reiterate Pakistan’s full support for the cause of Palestine.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are also accompanying the Prime Minister. This extraordinary summit has been called by the government of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the situation in the Middle East, with focus on Gaza.
The heads of state and government of the Arab League and members of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) are participating in the summit.
COP29 SUMMIT IN BAKU
After attending the summit, PM Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Azerbaijan, to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku.
The prime minister will stay in Baku on November 12 and 13, and will present Pakistan’s position on the climate impact.
Pakistan will raise its voice for environmental justice with the serious climate challenge, sources said, adding that the prime minister will strive to increase cooperation with the affected countries under the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM).
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), ‘loss and damage’ refers to the negative effects of climate change that occur despite efforts to mitigate and adapt.
