Sindh government announces minimum wage increase


The Sindh government officially announced an increase in the minimum wage, setting the minimum salary at Rs37,000 per month for all workers in the province.

KARACHI: The Sindh government officially announced an increase in the minimum wage, setting the minimum salary at Rs37,000 per month for all workers in the province.

The increase will take effect from July 1, following the approval of the Sindh Chief Minister.

A spokesperson from the Sindh Labour Department confirmed that a new wage structure applies to both, industrial and the commercial sectors throughout the province.

The new regulation mandates that female workers will receive the same minimum wage as their male counterparts,

The spokesperson stated that any institution currently paying above the minimum wage would not be required to reduce salaries.

The provision aims to protect workers who may have been receiving higher wages prior to the implementation of the new wage.

All employees in the southern province will be legally obligated to comply with the notification.
