WEB DESK: US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller has highlighted Washington’s neutral stance on supporting any specific political entity in Pakistan, urging Islamabad to conduct free and fair elections as the nation approaches its electoral process.
“Pakistan’s future leadership is to be decided by the people of Pakistan,” stated Matthew Miller, highlighting America’s interest in ensuring a democratic process.
The spokesperson of the US State Department dismissed allegations made by the former prime minister as “baseless,” specifically addressing claims that the US sought to establish military bases in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the American envoy reiterated Washington’s commitment to supporting transparent and unbiased polls in the country.
During a US State Department briefing, Miller clarified that the United States does not take any position regarding the outcome of an election in Pakistan.
In response to a question, he stated, “We do not support any particular political party or candidate in Pakistan. However, we consistently advocate for free and fair elections in Pakistan and worldwide.”
