LAHORE: With Pakistan’s white-ball series against South Africa on the horizon, the national selection committee has begun internal consultations to finalise the squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I fixtures, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources revealed on Monday.

The committee is closely evaluating the recent performance of the national team, including the Asia Cup T20 campaign where Pakistan reached the final under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha. According to insiders, the individual performance of Agha, who captained the side during the tournament, is also under review.

However, in a move that could shake up the squad, the possible return of former captains Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan is also reportedly being considered. Both experienced campaigners have remained in the conversation following their absence from recent matches.

Despite the speculation, sources indicate that head coach Mike Hesson and the selection committee are reluctant to make sweeping changes. Only one or two adjustments are expected in the final squad for the white-ball series.

Team management, it is believed, wants to give Salman Ali Agha more opportunities at the helm, warning that frequent captaincy changes could further destabilise team performance.

The final squad is expected to be announced next week, with fans eagerly awaiting confirmation of potential comebacks and the future of leadership in Pakistan’s white-ball setup.
