Karachi’s katchi abadis empowered through ‘wall messages’

Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), in collaboration with the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), has launched a ‘wall painting drive’ under the project’s Behavior Change Communication (BCC) component.

The drive has been launched at Essa Nagri, a predominantly Christian community in District East, where people face daily hardships in accessing essential services.

This impactful campaign uses visually striking wall paintings to educate the community—particularly children—on the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

The recently completed wall murals in Essa Nagri captivate residents with vibrant imagery and simple yet powerful messages. The artwork highlights essential hygiene practices such as regular handwashing with soap and wearing slippers to prevent infections and diseases.

These messages serve as constant reminders, reinforcing positive hygiene behaviors among children and their families.
