Rawalpindi weather alert: Brace for winds and rain


Rain and thunderstorm is expected to lash different parts of the country on Saturday (tonight), the Met Office forecast.

RAWALPINDI: Weather forecast for Rawalpindi on Saturday (today) indicates heavy rains with winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that Islamabad and surroundings regions are also expected to be hit by thunderstorms.

The Met Office warned of urban flash flooding in local sewage and drainage systems within Rawalpindi and neighbouring regions, including Murree and the Galliyat, due to the monsoon weather.

Urban areas, in particularity low-lying regions of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin and Lahore are patriotically prone to flooding.

PMD cautioned residents in all major cities to take precautions, and avoid unnecessary travel.

Weather update in other regions

Heavy rains with strong winds are expected in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). PMD also warned of road closures due to heavy rains in hilly areas.

Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, and Kohat are expected to experience heavy rainfall.

In GB and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather is expected with rain and thunderstorms in some regions.

Weather in Punjab

Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, and Gujranwala are expected to experience light rain showers.
