14,000 acres of PR land encroached: Secretary Railways

ISLAMABAD: In a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament Chaired by Noor Alam Khan it was revealed that lands belonging to Pakistan Railways worth Rs4.4 billion are unlawfully occupied in different parts of the country.

“138 acres are encroached in my city alone. End the encroachment from Peshawar first”, said the disgruntled chairman PAC.

Meanwhile, Secretary Pakistan Railways Hussain Tariq informed the committee that people were squatting over the said lands for decades and that there was dire need to find a viable solution to the problem.

Khan also expressed his displeasure over the absence of the planning and development secretary from the meeting.
