SEOUL: Big Hit Music, the longstanding label of the South Korean septet BTS, revealed on Wednesday that the group will be extending their contracts with the company.
According to Variety, the decision comes as some of the BTS members have commenced their mandatory military service.
In an official statement released by HYBE, the parent company of Big Hit, it was assured to fans that BTS will maintain their partnership with Big Hit Music “for their upcoming releases starting from 2025 onwards.”
The statement went on to specify, “Big Hit Music will take into account the military service status of certain members and intends to sign individual contracts with each BTS member sequentially. Those members who are currently fulfilling their military obligations will have completed their service by the commencement of the renewed exclusive contract period in 2025.”

Earlier in 2022, BTS announced a partial hiatus as some members embarked on their military service journeys, while others pursued solo endeavors. Remarkably, all seven members of the internationally renowned group have achieved solo success on the Billboard charts.
Most recently, V made a noteworthy debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his six-track solo album, Layover, trailing only behind Olivia Rodrigo.
Meanwhile, Suga, who embarked on his inaugural solo music tour earlier this year, became the third BTS member to begin his mandatory military service, following Jin, who enlisted in December, and J-Hope, who joined in April. In accordance with Korean law, all physically fit men are required to fulfill 18-21 months of military service.
Additionally, Big Hit announced a generous donation of 1 billion South Korean won (equivalent to an estimated $700,000 US dollars) to the Korean Committee for UNICEF as a token of appreciation to BTS and their devoted fanbase, known as BTS ARMY. This contribution is part of the Love Myself campaign, a collaborative initiative between BTS and UNICEF that commenced in November 2017.
